For the final assignment, I animated the robot running and jumping. I did it all with forward kinematics, just placing limbs and body parts in various positions at different times trying to sell the motion a lot like claymation.
During my second 3d class I decided to enter a short media competition. I decided to remake the robot film, but properly with all the bells and whistles I was learning from this new class. I remodeled him from the ground up so his poly count was at least one tenth the original(keeping the same detail). This allowed my poor PC to handle the animating and rendering load.
I created some scenery, some other robots and re-lit it so it could render with motion blur. I rigged him with proper inverse-kinematics so I could use puppeteering techniques and even put together full footstep cycles in character studio.
The short media competition required that we make everything, including music and sound fx. So I recorded my friend and myself doing dialog, and various house hold objects doing sound fx. And I do apologize for the music which was written by me when I was in high school. It was a very last minute addition.
So, here it is... the final of what the little sketches in a notebook turned into, and yes I did win even though I spelled "performed" incorrectly.
