It's really not all that unusual to be loved by someone... anyone?

I thought I would upload the video of the Skills USA, state competition. My team (myself and a talented young woman) created this animation from scratch, no previous assets allowed. The animation was part of an 8 hour competition to create an animated story based on a phrase that was given to us five minutes before the competition started. The phrase was "There's no place like home."

The reason for uploading this video, aside from the standard self-absorbed reasons, is because I've talked about this animation to a few people, they love the idea and want to see it. It is a fantastic idea, and I, unfortunately, am not the imaginer of it. That credit goes to my teammate, who pulled this idea out of her head faster than I can embarrass myself in front of any relatively eligible woman, and believe me, that’s fast!

So anyway, this is the original animation, no re-rendering, or re-working from the competition version. Well, except for the music, which they wouldn't let us have, but I've put it in because "It just works so well, dangit!"

We actually received the first prize and were shipped out to Kansas City to compete in the nationals, which we took first prize in as well. Unfortunately I cannot locate the national winning piece, but I'm ok with that, as it wasn't as enjoyable as this state piece. The national competition was based on how well we could take a vintage patent application for a toy train, and flesh it into a working 3d model inside and out. Real exciting stuff.
